About Bara Pind
Bara Pind is a very famous village. Which falls under the Phillaur Tehsil of Jalandhar District of the Punjab province of India. The village is located on Masani Road, 4 km from Goraya, between Jalandhar and Ludhiana.
Main Post Office is located in the village which was started in . There are two senior secondary level government schools in the village. Four Nationalized Banks and a Cooperative Bank are working in the village.
A Petrol Pump is serving people since 1987. Barapind Printing Press has been serving the area since 2000.
There are two big play grounds in this village. This village also has a state-of-the-art civil hospital which is providing health care services to 88 villages in the area. There is also a government hospital for animals.
In this village there are religious shrines, such as a Gurdwara, a temple, a mosque, which are located around the village.
A son of this village Lieutenant General Gurbakhsh Singh Sihota who is honored with the Paramvir Sewa Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Veer Chakra, Vishisht Medal. Bhai Kulvir Singh Bara Pind name is not the Destitute of any identity.
Giani Hari Singh was elected as Legislative Assembly Member in 1962 after defeating Sh Lekh Raj from Phillaur, Assembly constituency with a margin of 3421 votes.
In 1967, 1969 and 1972, the assembly constituency was Bara Pind.
In 1967, Harkishan Singh Surjit won the legislative election as a candidate from Bara Pind. In 1969, defeating Harkishan Singh Surjit by a margin of 3860 votes, Umrao Singh won the elections. In 1972 once again Umrao Singh elected defeating Gurcharan Singh by a margin of 6,910 votes, the constituency won from the Bara Pind.
After this, due to the new halqa, Bara Pind village went to the Nakodar halqa. Earlier, Bara Pind fell in Phillaur assembly constituency.
Before Independence, a big conference was held in the village.

ਬੜਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਇੱਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਪਿੰਡ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਪ੍ਰਾਂਤ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਿਲਾ ਜਲੰਧਰ ਦੀ ਫਿਲੌਰ ਤਹਿਸੀਲ ਅਧੀਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਥਾਣਾ ਗੁਰਾਇਆ ਅਧੀਨ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਬੜਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਜਲੰਧਰ ਅਤੇ ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਦਰਮਿਆਨ ਗੁਰਾਇਆ ਤੋਂ 4 ਕਿਲੋਮੀਟਰ ਚੜਦੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਮਸਾਣੀ ਰੋਡ ਤੇ ਸਥਿੱਤ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁੱਖ ਡਾਕਘਰ ਸਥਿੱਤ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਸੰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਾਲੂ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਬੜਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਸੈਕੰਡਰੀ ਪੱਧਰ ਦੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸਕੂਲ ਹਨ। ਬੜਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ 4 ਨੈਸ਼ਨਲਾਈਜ਼ ਬੈਂਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਹਿਕਾਰੀ ਬੈਂਕ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇੱਕ ਪੈਟਰੋਲ ਪੰਪ 1987 ਤੋਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਬੜਾਪਿੰਡ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਟਿਗ ਪ੍ਰੈਸ 2000 ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋ ਵੱਡੇ ਖੇਡ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਬਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸਿਵਲ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਵੀ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਦੇ 88 ਪਿੰਡਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਸਿਹਤ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਇੱਥੇ ਪਸ਼ੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਵੀ ਸਥਿੱਤ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰੇ, ਮੰਦਿਰ, ਮਸਜਿਦ ਆਦਿ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਚਾਰੋਂ ਪਾਸੇ ਸਥਿੱਤ ਹਨ।
ਇਸ ਪਿੰਡ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਸਪੂਤ ਲੈਫਟੀਨੈਂਟ ਜਨਰਲ ਸ. ਗੁਰਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਹੋਤਾ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਵੀਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਮੈਡਲ,ਅਤਿ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਟ ਸੇਵਾ ਮੈਡਲ, ਵੀਰ ਚਕਰ, ਵਿਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਟ ਮੈਡਲ ਨਾਲ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਭਾਈ ਕੁਲਵੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੜਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਕਿਸੇ ਜਾਣ ਪਛਾਣ ਦਾ ਮੁਥਾਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਇੱਥੋਂ ਦੇ ਜਮਪਲ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਹਰੀ ਸਿੰਘ 1962 ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਹਲਕਾ ਫਿਲੌਰ ਤੋਂ ਲੇਖ ਰਾਜ ਨੂੰ 3421 ਵੋਟਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹਰਾ ਕੇ ਬਤੌਰ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਚੁਣੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ।
1967, 1969 ਅਤੇ 1972 ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਹਲਕਾ ਬੜਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
1967 ਵਿੱਚ ਸ. ਹਰਕਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਨੇ ਬੜਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਤੋਂ ਬਤੌਰ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਚੋਣ ਜਿੱਤੀ ਸੀ। 1969 ਵਿੱਚ ਹਰਕਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਨੂੰ 3860 ਵੋਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਫਰਕ ਨਾਲ ਹਰਾ ਕੇ ਉਮਰਾਓ ਸਿੰਘ ਚੋਣ ਜਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ। 1972 ਵਿੱਚ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਫਿਰ ਉਮਰਾਓ ਸਿੰਘ 6910 ਵੋਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਫਰਕ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰਚਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾ ਕੇ ਹਲਕਾ ਬੜਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਤੋਂ ਚੋਣ ਜਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ।
ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਨਵੀਂ ਹਲਕਾਬੰਦੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਬੜਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਹਲਕਾ ਨਕੋਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਬੜਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਹਲਕਾ ਫਿਲੌਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਬੜਾ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਾਨਫਰੰਸ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ।
